Job summary

A community-focused child development organization in New York is hiring a part-time Group Leader to foster a supportive environment for students through structured activities and emotional support. This role involves leading individual and group activities, providing homework assistance, and applying behavior strategies to promote student engagement and learning. Ideal candidates will have experience working with elementary-aged children and must be willing to obtain necessary certifications. Competitive compensation is offered, ranging from $18-$22 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with elementary-aged children in educational or youth-development settings.
  • Ability to implement consistent and compassionate behavior-guidance strategies.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications: CPR/First Aid, Mandated Reporter, and Food Handler.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily instruction for a cohort of ~15 students.
  • Lead small-group SEL activities.
  • Facilitate homework help and individualized academic support.
  • Assist with literacy, STEAM, arts, and physical activity lessons.
  • Apply trauma-informed and restorative behavior strategies.
  • Maintain consistent communication with families.
