Job summary

Cimolai-HY LLC is seeking a Production Planning / Routing Specialist to oversee detailed work orders from engineering releases through prefabrication to finished product, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role requires strong understanding of steel fabrication, shop operations, and ERP systems to maintain precise routings and lead-times.

• Experience with production scheduling tools or ERP systems (Tekla/EPM, SAP).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production routings: create, review, and release detailed work orders for production based on engineering drawings, CAD/CAM files, and programming specifications.
• Coordinate with production planning: ensure nestings are accurate; collaborate with programmers and production supervisors to reflect accurate ERP data; return off cuts to ERP inventory with correct dimensions.
• Optimize workflow: identify and eliminate inefficiencies, balance workloads, and propose process improvements to reduce lead times and costs.
• Quality control integration: ensure each operation meets traceability, material specs, and includes inspection gates before moving to the next stage; verify incoming material meets specs and has documentation.
• Collaborate with shop floor: work with operators, welders, fitters, and quality inspectors to confirm routings are practical; generate drilling programs as needed.

Responsible for creating and managing the detailed work orders job from raw material to programming to prefabrication, fabrication and finished product, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, or structural steel operations.
• Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or fabrication sequencing.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes and shop operations.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and sequencing requirements.
• Experience with production scheduling tools or ERP systems (Tekla/EPM, SAP, etc.).
• Proficient in Excel and data analysis for planning and performance tracking.
• Advanced planning and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to balance competing priorities in a production environment.
• Effective communication across engineering, operations, and management teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Quality awareness: Knowledge of inspection points, tolerances, and compliance requirements.
• Problem‑solving: Skills to identify bottlenecks, resolve conflicts, and adjust plans in real time.
