Location: Chicago, Illinois, Hybrid/Remote

Position for Information Technology (IT) will develop, implement, and maintain technology processes for the Data Analytics department. Provide expertise in the research and conceptualization of new programming and automation initiatives for the agency.

Coordinate with the team and IT department to ensure technical processes reflect department and organizational priorities and requirements. Perform business and data analysis to deliver data and analytics capabilities to the organization.

Perform hands-on coding and configuration work with an evolving technology toolset.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with Data Analytics group to identify methods for maintenance, enhancement, and automation of capabilities.
  • Conduct problem analysis of technical systems and application programs, document findings, and propose solutions.
  • Build front-end web interfaces for sharing and visualizing analytic output.
  • Review programs prior to implementation to ensure conformance with guidelines, policies, and industry standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of application systems and technologies.

Serve as technical project liaison with various departments on Data Analytics projects.

  • Provide technical expertise and serve as subject matter expert on project needs and goals.
  • Assist in creating and automating Data Analytics capabilities.
  • Support data sourcing, transformation, and modeling activities for the Data Analytics group.
Challenges:
  • Understanding complex business information needs and determining technical solutions.
  • Being a self-directed technologist without organizational peers in the same role.
  • Communicating technical challenges to less knowledgeable stakeholders.
Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field plus three years of technical development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of systems development concepts, lifecycles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data management/SQL concepts and languages.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PL/SQL, R, Ruby, C#, C++.
  • Knowledge of relational database design and query languages.
  • Understanding of machine learning processes and algorithms.
  • Knowledge of data model design and structured programming principles.
  • Experience with system implementation, testing, database administration, and user training.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools.
