Job summary

Millerbernd Manufacturing is seeking a Programmer to nest and optimize plasma and torch-cut programs. You will prepare job data for quotes, set up machines, and support operators to ensure efficient production.

Ideal candidates have SolidWorks and SigmaNest experience, blueprints interpretation skills, and a background in CNC programming. Full-time on-site role with competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; one year programming with SolidWorks and SigmaNest preferred.
  • AS degree in Engineering Technology or CNC programming helpful.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and GD&T to .0005.
  • Knowledge of fabrication and tooling, and ability to read mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Nest, write and optimize programs to cut parts on plasma and torch cutting tables.
  • Provide information for quotes including machine setup, run time, inspection and labor hours.
  • Assist plasma and laser table operators and provide training to advance skills.
  • Maintain 5S and promote a cooperative working climate.
  • Communicate effectively with team and ensure timely delivery.

Job Title:

Winsted, MN

Salary Range:

$27.17 - $32.12/hour (Non-Exempt)

(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)

Incentive Pay:

Eligible for Freight Train Profit Sharing, averaging +$4.25/hour based on achievement of business performance goals

Schedule:

2nd shift: Monday - Thursday 3pm - 1am, Weekend shift: Friday - Sunday 5am - 5pm

Shift Differential:

2nd shift – $1.50/hour, Weekend shift - $2.50/hour

As a Programmer,you will:

  • Nest, write and optimize programs to cut parts on plasma and torch cutting tables
  • Provide information required by sales department to quote potential work orders, including machine set up, run time, inspection and labor hours
  • Assist plasma and laser table operators and provide training that will advance his/her skills
  • Regular and on-time attendance for full scheduled work shift schedule
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with coworkers to promote a cooperative working climate conducive to maximum productivity, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Maintains 5S guidelines
  • Communicate relevant information and concerns positively and effectively to others in timely manner
  • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements

Role Qualifications as a Programmer:

  • Preferred candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent and one year of on the job experience programming with SolidWorks (or similar CAD), and SigmaNest (or similar nesting software)
    • An A.S. degree with a concentration on Engineering Technology, Machine Trades or CNC Machine Programming is helpful
    • Other combinations of formal training and experience will be considered
  • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerances to .0005
  • Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and shop floor control applications
  • Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, fabrication practices, properties of metals, and the application of mathematics and dimensions to tooling and the production of machined parts
  • Experience machining aluminum, stainless and carbon steels
  • Knowledge and experience in fixture design
  • Proficiency in converting SolidWorks into SigmaNest
  • Accurately use tape measure and precision measuring devices
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines
  • Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork
  • Effective and appropriate oral and written communication skills, including legible handwriting in English
  • Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures
