Job summary

MillerKnoll, Inc. Buffalo is seeking an experienced CNC operator for woodworking to program and operate CNC machinery. The role requires reading blueprints, setting up tools, and running full production cycles in a fast-paced shop.

You should have 3 to 5 years of CNC experience, an associate degree is preferred, and strong math and measurement skills. The position offers an hourly wage from $22 to $26 plus a broad benefits package from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate all CNC machinery per SOP.
  • Read blueprints, sketches, and data to determine tooling, setup, and machining methods.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands for machines.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto machines.
  • Conduct test runs to verify outputs against specifications.
  • Set machines for full production cycles and supervise operations.
  • Inspect finished parts and monitor tooling for optimal performance.
  • Follow shop floor controls and safety policies.

Position Summary

Candidate will program and operate CNC woodworking machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate all CNC machinery assigned according to department standard operation procedures
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences so that parts are produced to quality expectations
  • Translate instructions into computer commands to enable the machines to perform the correct function
  • Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
  • Conduct a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate many parts
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Inspect and measure finished products to ensure the process has been completed properly
  • Maintain and monitor machinery and tools to ensure optimum functionality
  • Follow all shop floor controls
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures as well as ensuring departmental safety.
  • * Additional responsibilities as requested by Management to achieve business objectives
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a CNC operator.
  • Background in woodworking field preferred.
  • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills.
  • Basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM.
  • Associates degree preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to complete work tasks that require strong manual dexterity
  • Must be able to stand while working for long durations of time, up to three (3) hours at a time
  • Physical lifting ability up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work under pressure and within time constraints
  • Must be able to perform duties while wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment as determined by MillerKnoll's Health and Safety department
  • Must be able to perform in an environment with high levels of exposure to manufacturing noise, dust and heat
  • Ability to work in a multi-shift environment including flexible hours and weekends, as required
  • Ability to work in a multi-shift environment including flexible hours, overtime and weekends, as required

  • Willingness to cross-train in various areas and/or department as required
  • Able to work in a team environment and support a culture of respect and trust
  • Must be able to train back up operator to set up all equipment in area

  • Able to take initiative to solve problems, where appropriate
  • Must be able to make independent judgements to determine best solution and obtain appropriate approvals before acting

Compensation range for this role is $22.00 - $26.00. Relevant salary considerations will include candidate qualifications and experience, other business/organizational needs and market factors . You may also be eligible to receive a geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards which are subject to the rules governing these programs.
