Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Underwrite comprehensive regional new and renewal business using analysis and risk assessment techniques.
• Meet premium/revenue production goals while maintaining profitability.
• Review and approve endorsements and review MVRs, loss notifications, loss runs, inspections, reports and audits.
• Resolve issues identified in underwriting quality control and carrier file audits within set timeframes.
• Develop relationships with carriers and clients, partnering with Sales/Marketing to improve binding opportunities.
• Identify growth opportunities and assist in annual business planning for the region.
• Adhere to Venture Programs' service standards and participate in in-house training.

The Program Underwriter role will be responsible for the pricing and placement of new and renewal business opportunities while maintaining an unparalleled level of service to the agent and broker community. Risk and pricing negotiation along with analytical coverage reviews are critical to the successful management of the book of business.

• Comprehensive regional underwriting for new and renewal business using extensive analysis and risk assessment techniques, inclusive but not limited to Underwriting Workbooks, analytic software, etc.
• Meet established premium/revenue production goals while maintaining profitability standards set for the program.
• Review and approve endorsements referred within established guidelines; review MVR's, loss notifications, loss runs, inspections, reports and audits.
• Resolve all open issues identified in the Underwriting Quality Control and carrier file audit process within the time frame established; provide all necessary and applicable support information to the Underwriting File.
• Handle any other duties as assigned.

Communication Responsibilities

• Develop working business relationships with carriers and clients.
• Capitalize on internal resources by partnering with Sales and Marketing to improve binding opportunity.
• Handle and resolve non-routine mail and telephone communication from carriers and clients related to accounting, premium, audits, endorsements, etc., document file with resolution.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
• Partner with program Underwriting VP in developing an annual business plan for assigned region. Analyze and evaluate results on a monthly basis.
• Keep abreast of market trends, competition philosophy, products and distribution systems.

Corporate Responsibilities:

• Adhere to and enforce all Venture Programs’ Best Practice (Customer) Service Standards, inclusive of underwriting, processing, review, issuance, and risk management.
• Assist in training newly appointed or hired team members in all aspects of the role.
• Maintain a program of continuing education; attend insurance seminars as workload permits; participate in Venture Programs in-house training as led by Venture senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Pennsylvania (or domiciled state) Property & Casualty License (will permit twelve months to obtain)
• 3-5 years Package (all-lines) P&C Underwriting experience with carrier authority (more than one carrier experience preferred)
• Demonstrates ability to successfully interact with carriers, clients and Venture team
• Organized, independent, self-disciplined, and creative self-starter
• Familiarity with automated systems, processing and general technology
• Understanding of program-specific business operations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
