Job summary

The Vermont Department of Libraries seeks a Program Technician II for the ABLE Library, Vermont’s Library for the Blind and Print Disabled. The role serves as the main contact for patrons across the state, delivering excellent customer service and program information.

Responsibilities include training on digital talking book machines, BARD access, and the ABLE Library catalog, handling mail, and supporting outreach and collection activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of library practices, systems, and procedures.
• Ability to apply office management principles to operations.
• Awareness of challenges faced by blind/VI/print disabled users relating to ABLE Library services.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and processing applications for service from new patrons.
• Communicating with caregivers, educators, medical and other service providers about program information and needs.
• Providing reference and readers’ advisory services to patrons and referring to community resources.
