Job summary

The Vermont Department of Libraries seeks a Director of Inclusive Services & the ABLE Library to provide braille, audiobooks, and specialized services to Vermonters who are blind or print disabled. The Director manages collection development for correctional and psychiatric facilities and supervises two staff members.

Reporting to the Assistant State Librarian, the role leads inclusive services for Veterans, LGBTQ+ Vermonters, seniors, new Americans, and incarcerated individuals, and

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• 3+ years of library experience including 1+ year supervisory experience.
• Experience serving special or vulnerable populations.
• Knowledge of accessibility technologies and ILS.
• Demonstrated teaching ability and subject-matter expertise in inclusive services.
• Managerial and operational skills with staff supervision.
• Ability to travel statewide.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ABLE Library program providing braille, audiobooks, and specialized services to Vermonters who are blind or print disabled.
• Manage collection development for correctional and psychiatric facilities; supervise two staff members.
• Serve as the Department's lead consultant on inclusive services for Veterans, LGBTQ+ Vermonters, seniors, new Americans, people with disabilities, and incarcerated individuals.
• Report to the Assistant State Librarian and participate in statewide library leadership and strategic initiatives.
