Job summary

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone in Brooklyn is seeking a Program Supervisor for a Monday–Friday 10a–6p school-based program. You will set the vision and goals for the afterschool program, oversee administrative operations and curriculum, and align practices with NYC DOE Common Core standards to support children's development.

You will collaborate with the Early Childhood Center, coach staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead continuous improvement and new grant initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Education or related field required.
• Master's degree in Education or related field preferred or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Review attendance and school report cards and follow up accordingly.
• Coordinate staff development (on and off site) and ensure new staff receive orientation with train-the-trainer approach.
• Ensure services for children who have IEPs.
• Enter attendance and program reports into DYCD Connect and OST online.
• Coordinate SYEP program paperwork and logistics.
• Supervise SYEP youth and coordinate trainings.
• Order supplies for program needs.
• Recruit, hire, and observe staff for quality service delivery.
• Plan and evaluate curricula with school-age staff.
• Collaborate with data team and regulators to improve program efficiencies.
• Serve as liaison with families and community to promote program activities.
• Recruit new participants for school year and summer sessions.
• Partner with family support to address participant needs.
• Develop community partnerships to expand programming.
• Ensure compliance with NYC DOHMH, NYSDOH, and NYC DYCD requirements.
• Act as group leader during the academic year.
• Coordinate with Warren Street Center leadership for overall operations.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Supervisor - M-F 10a-6p - Brooklyn - School Setting. In this role, the successful candidate The Program Supervisor determines the vision, goals, and objectives of the school-age program, including administrative operations and curriculum. The Program Supervisor will research and implement the best developmentally appropriate practices for an elementary afterschool program aligned with the NYC Department of Education Common Core Standards and supporting the social/emotional, physical, and cognitive development of elementary school children. They will identify and develop partnerships to enhance programming and opportunities for youth participants and develop and implement an ongoing continuous improvement plan to assess program efficiencies and impact. The Program Supervisor also collaborates closely with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) to ensure a holistic, aligned, and seamless continuity of care for children and families across programs. In addition, this position requires a leader who can support high-quality instruction, coach staff, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and guide program enhancements tied to new initiatives /grants and facility and space planning to strengthen program quality and sustainability.

Job Responsibilities

• Review attendance and school report cards and follow up accordingly
• Coordinate staff development (on and off site) and ensuring that new staff receives orientation. incorporating aoaching/ modeling and a "train the trainer" approach to staff development to build capacity
• Ensure that children who have IEPs services in support of their individual needs
• Ensure that attendance and program reports are entered into DYCD Connect and OST online in a timely manner
• Coordinating and completing paperwork to SYEP program
• Supervising SYEP youth and coordinating trainings and meeting for them
• Ordering supplies
• Recruit, hire, and observe staff for the purpose of evaluating the quality of service delivery and to identify areas which may require further staff development
• Meeting regularly with school age staff to plan, coordinate, conduct, assess, and build upon educational curricula
• Working collaboratively with the data team and regulatory agencies, develop and implement a continuous improvement process that ensures program efficiencies and impact on student outcomes
• Acting as liaison between the Center and the primary caregivers of participants, as well as the community; establish ongoing communication systems to promote the mission, goals, and activities of the Center, inform caregivers of their critical role in their child's education and life; enlist the support and involvement of caregivers as well as community residents and leaders, in the strengthening of the school age program, and the recruiting of staff and new participants
• Recruiting of new participants for school year and summer sessions
• Collaborate with family support team to assist staff in addressing the educational, health, social and special needs of the participants
• Identify and cultivate partnerships with other community and cultural organizations to enhance programing opportunities
• Ensure that program meets all regulatory and licensing requirements as per the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the NYS Department of Health and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development
• Serve as a group leader during the academic year
• Work alongside with Director of Warren Street Center for Children and Families to ensure the overall operation of the center, highest quality of services, and continuity care for all children and families

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities

• Lead the management and implementation of new grants and funded initiatives for the school-age program, including overseeing compliance, meeting program benchmarks, coordinating required reporting, and supporting ongoing funding opportunities that strengthen program sustainability and expansion.
• Serve as Facilities and Maintenance Building Coordinator, ensuring that program spaces are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Coach staff members on effective classroom management and behavior-support strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with the Early Childhood Center (ECC) to ensure a holistic, aligned, and seamless continuity of care for children and families across programs.
• Serve as an Educational/Curriculum Specialist or Instructional Coordinator to support curriculum planning, instructional quality, and staff development.
• Act as an Educational/Facility Space Planner to ensure program environments are developmentally appropriate, functional, and aligned to instructional needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field (Required).
• Actively working toward a Masters Degree in Education, Child Development, School-Age Education, Social Work, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience working with school-age children in an after-school, youth development, or educational setting.
• Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• NYS Teacher Certification (Initial or Professional) or currently enrolled in a New York Stateapproved teacher preparation program with demonstrated progress toward certification.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience in an after-school, OST, or youth development program.
• Experience with curriculum planning, program evaluation, and compliance with NYC DOE and DYCD regulations.
• Experience coaching staff or supporting instructional quality.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,300.00 - $70,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
