Job summary

MHA Inc. in Massachusetts seeks a Program Supervisor for SHIFT Avon and related housing outreach programs. You will lead a team, supervise staff, and guide residents toward recovery, housing stability, and independent living.

Responsibilities include crisis response, treatment planning support, administrative oversight, and ensuring compliance with MHA and BSAS standards while maintaining safety and high-quality services.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to crises.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, documentation, and computer skills.
  • Experience delivering trauma-informed, strengths-based, person-centered services.
  • Ability to build relationships and foster a supportive community.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience supporting individuals with psychiatric diagnoses, substance use, trauma, or homelessness.
  • Supervisory experience in a residential setting preferred.

  • Provide regular supervision to ensure staff development and policy compliance.
  • Oversee scheduling, timesheets, PTO approvals, and staffing coverage.
  • Ensure completion of trainings, emergency drills, and procedural reviews.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate documentation, including admissions, discharges, and service plans.
  • Coordinate communication with internal teams and external providers to ensure quality care.
  • Oversee participant intake, discharge, and aftercare planning, including housing and benefits support.
  • Manage daily program operations to ensure safety, engagement, and service quality.
  • Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies and ensure timely incident reporting.
  • Support administrative and program functions, including finances, reporting, audits, on-call rotation, and community engagement.

Job description

Position Summary

The Program Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for MHA's SHIFT Avon transitional residential program and permanent supportive housing outreach program. This role supports individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health challenges as they work toward stable housing and independent living. Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring a safe and supportive environment, overseeing daily operations, and guiding residents through recovery and life skills development. The Supervisor also supports treatment planning, relapse prevention, crisis intervention, and ensures program compliance with MHA and BSAS standards.

Pay Rate

$50,000-$53,000 annually

Open Shift

Monday through Friday 8am-4pm (40hrs)

Key Responsibilities

About the Division of Recovery Services (DRS)

The Division of Recovery Services (DRS) supports individuals of all ages navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Our youth residential programs provide a safe, structured environment for adolescents involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to address behavioral health needs. For adults, DRS offers residential and outreach support for those in recovery or living with addiction, including many with co-occurring mental health concerns. Through compassionate, trauma-informed care, we help individuals build coping skills, restore stability, and work toward long-term recovery and wellness.

Requirements
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise a team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to crises, and maintain composure in difficult situations
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication, documentation, and basic computer applications
  • Ability to model and support trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered service delivery
  • Ability to build relationships and establish a supportive community culture within the environment
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, sufficient insurance and reliable vehicle required
  • Must be able to pass and maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid
  • Minimum of two years of experience supporting individuals with psychiatric diagnoses, substance use, trauma, and/or homelessness
  • Supervisory experience and prior work in a residential setting strongly preferred
