Job summary

The City of Selma seeks a qualified professional to plan, develop, and supervise community services and recreation programs, including special events, staff oversight, budgeting, and public engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in recreation administration or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in community or recreation program administration.
• Knowledge of budget development and supervision principles.

Job description

Status: Regular, Full-time

Schedule: Monday - Friday; some weekends and holidays

Rate of Pay: $16.00 per hour

Job Summary:

Under general direction, plans, develops, coordinates, and supervises community services and recreation programs, including special events, staff oversight, budgeting, and public engagement.

Key Duties:

• Plan, implement, and evaluate community and recreation programs and special events
• Assess community needs and recommend appropriate programs
• Schedule programs, allocate resources, and oversee facilities and reservations
• Prepare publicity materials and manage online registration systems
• Supervise, train, and evaluate part-time staff and contracted instructors
• Assist with budget preparation, purchasing, and expenditure monitoring
• Coordinate programs with City departments, agencies, and community organizations
• Respond to public inquiries and complaints; prepare reports and maintain records
• Serve on recreation and community-related committees as assigned

Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

• Community services and recreation program administration
• Budget development and supervision principles
• Recreation equipment, office procedures, and computer applications

Ability to:

• Develop and manage community and recreation programs
• Supervise staff and volunteers
• Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in recreation administration or a related field
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in community or recreation program administration
