Job summary

ExpandED Schools is seeking a Program Specialist, Training & Technical Assistance to facilitate data-management trainings, support the DYCD Connect Help Center, and develop user guides. The role supports community-based organizations and integrates data-driven practices across programs.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years of facilitation experience, strong data skills, and comfort with virtual training tools (WebEx/Zoom/Teams).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 1–3 years of facilitation experience.
  • Strong data quality, reporting, and analytic skills; familiarity with large data sets.
  • Experience and interest in leading technical trainings on data management systems.
  • Experience with virtual training platforms (WebEx, Zoom, Teams).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest and experience in youth development, after-school, and/or education.
  • Strong cultural competence with respect for diverse stakeholders and communities.

Responsibilities

  • Co-facilitate beginner to intermediate-level data management trainings for community-based organizations funded by DYCD.
  • Respond via email/phone to support requests submitted via the DYCD Connect Help Center.
  • Develop and revise DYCD Connect user guides to explain data entry procedures with screenshots.
  • Partner with Program Manager, Data Management TA to collect and upload training registration and attendance data; participate in stakeholder meetings; perform other tasks as directed.

Program Specialist, Training & Technical Assistance

Established in 1998, the organization today reaches more than 119,000 children and 900 programs throughout New York City to ensure that students in under-served communities have access to innovative, engaging ways of learning to enable them to reach their full potential. Over the last two decades, ExpandED Schools’ program, research and policy efforts have led to increased recognition of the academic, social, and emotional benefits of afterschool, increased funding, and new models for school-community partnership.

Duties & Responsibilities

Training Facilitation

  • Co-facilitate beginner to intermediate-level data management trainings for community-based organizations funded by DYCD
  • Contribute to training development and planning meetings with the Data/IT Management leads

Help Center Support

  • Respond via email/phone to requests for support submitted via the DYCD Connect Help Center

User Guide Development

  • Develop and revise DYCD Connect user guides to explain data entry procedures and provide screenshots illustrating system navigation
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions requested from DYCD

Administrative Tasks

  • Partner with the Program Manager, Data Management Technical Assistance to collect and upload training registration and attendance data to internal trackers
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders from DYCD
  • Perform other tasks as needed and directed by supervisor.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 1-3 years of facilitation experience. (e.g. lectures, teaching, public information sessions, etc.)
  • Strong data quality, reporting, & analytic skills. Familiarity with databases and working with large data sets.
  • Experience and interest in leading technical trainings on data management systems
  • Experience with virtual training platforms (WebEx, Zoom, Teams, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Interest and experience in youth development, after-school, and/or education
  • Strong cultural competence with respect for and knowledge of the cultures of stakeholders we work with and communities we serve

This position is funded through June 30, 2028 with possibility for extension.

Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed. Leaders of teams may call team members together for in-person meetings in the office when they reasonably believe that the work will be more productive and/or efficient if completed through in-person collaboration, and all full-time employees are expected to attend monthly all-staff meetings at the office.

This position requires regular use of public transportation and regular work in school buildings that may require climbing stairs.
