Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte's McCrorey YMCA in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Pathway Program Specialist to provide leadership and operational support for the Teen Innovation Lab pathway. This part-time, non-exempt role focuses on program fidelity, site coaching, recruitment events, and staff training to deliver engaging literacy and career exploration experiences for youth.

The successful candidate will uphold YMCA safety and programming certifications and collaborate with school and community

Qualifications

  • All YMCA team members must maintain active status for safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of the Teen Innovation Lab to ensure fidelity markers and goals.
  • Provide support and coaching for site administrators and site leaders.
  • Provide administrative support and thought partnership to the Teen Innovation Lab team.
  • Support site administrators and site leaders to complete required duties and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist with facilitating student recruitment events and strategies to ensure enrollment goals are met.
  • Facilitate staff program trainings and track training requirements for assigned site staff.
  • Conduct literacy observations in conjunction with site administrators and provide feedback and coaching to achieve high quality literacy instruction.
  • Conduct program area observations in conjunction with site administrators and provide feedback and coaching related to areas of improvement.
  • Monitor the daily operations of assigned program sites to ensure quality standards and procedures are followed.
  • Provide technical support and oversight to ensure data is collected and reported in a timely and accurate manner.

Description

Under the supervision of the Teen Innovation Lab Program Supervisor and consistent with the mission of the YMCA, the Pathway Program Specialist will provide leadership and operational support to their specialized pathway within the Teen Innovation Lab at McCrorey YMCA.

Essential Functions

Required Qualifications

All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Develop and maintain engaging, age-appropriate content that introduces students to healthcare and/or technology careers.
  • Create career exploration resources, including videos, articles, career profiles, lesson plans, digital activities, and interactive learning experiences with the support of the Program Supervisor.
  • Research emerging healthcare careers, workforce trends, and innovative technologies to ensure content remains current and relevant.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, educators, employers, and community partners to develop authentic career exploration experiences.
  • Coordinate student engagement opportunities such as career panels, workplace tours, virtual job shadowing, and guest speaker events.
  • Ensure all content reflects diverse career pathways and promotes equitable access to healthcare and technology career opportunities.
  • Assist in creating pipeline to industry specific certificates.

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership

Working Conditions
  • Regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
