Job summary

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a Program Specialist in the College of Education and P-16 Integration / Educator Preparation and Accountability. The role focuses on coordinating the teacher preparation program, guiding candidates toward certification, and maintaining program records.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree and relevant office experience; preferred: current teacher certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Current Teacher Certification preferred.
• Minimum: 1 year general office experience, or 3 years with an Associate degree/60 hours, or 5 years with a HS diploma.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates program to ensure activities align with objectives.
• Provides specialized guidance to students pursuing teacher certification.
• Communicates with teacher candidates to support program requirements and transitions.
• Supports implementation of teacher preparation components.
• Maintains records and reports to track candidate progress toward certification.
• Delivers presentations to prospective and current teacher candidates.
• Participates in planning and coordinating program activities under supervision.
