Job description

Chicago, IL | Denver, CO | Phoenix, AZ | Remote, US

About Caribou

At Caribou, we care about giving people financial freedom so they can focus on what’s most important to them. Today, less than two percent of Americans refinance their auto loans despite drastic increases in the cost of new and used cars. We see huge potential to help folks reduce their monthly auto expenses, as well as increase the predictability of those expenses over time. We do this by building technology to pair customers with community banks and credit unions, and ushering them through the process quickly. On average, our drivers save $130/month on their car loans while protecting their investment long term.

Caribou is led by leaders from the technology, automotive, and finance industries. We’re proud to be backed by a great team of investors, including QED Investors, Goldman Sachs, Moderne Ventures, Accomplice, Link Ventures, Motley Fool Ventures and others.

About the Role

Caribou is seeking a Program Specialist, Lending Partnerships to execute the strategy, objectives, and key results of the lending partner acquisition team. The Program Specialist, Lending Partnerships will be part of our Lender Development team and will work day-to-day with our Head of Lender Development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the daily operations of assigned lending product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build, grow, and maintain assigned lending product
  • Provide support to lending sales team as a “subject matter expert” while also leading individual sales opportunities
  • Establishing detailed account acquisition plans to maximize engagement opportunities with prospective lender partners
  • Structure and lead complex strategic partnership negotiations with financial institutions, from opportunity identification through to in-market execution
  • Directly negotiate origination fees, operational SLAs, and other contractual items
  • Effectively set expectations with internal and external partners in regards to objectives and operations
  • Build effective communication channels and relationship management programs to drive engagement and sales results
  • Review and proactively manage pipeline performance against goals

This role can be based out of our Caribou office in Denver, CO. Alternatively, this role may work remotely from a state where Caribou operates with a preference for the Chicago, IL, Denver, CO or San Francisco, CA markets.* This role may require attendance at occasional in-person team meetings. This role also requires up to 50% travel, including attendance at annual conferences.

About You

  • 8+ years experience in related sales fields, with experience and relationships in the credit union and bank space and/or other consumer credit
  • Proven ability to prospect, engage, and close new business
  • Analytical thinker who is just as comfortable entertaining prospects as you are identifying opportunities to improve our sales process
  • Excellent understanding of consumer auto loans and knowledge of key financial drivers (e.g., prepayment, default, severity rates) and relevant benchmarks
  • Very detail oriented with the ability to get “into the weeds” of daily program management while also being able to work “high level” during the sales process
  • Strong communicator with ability to understand prospect needs and evangelize how Caribou’s solutions enable them to hit their goals.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to meet with lenders at all levels of their organization (approximately 50% of time)
  • Knowledge of Hubspot or similar CRM products

How we will take care of you

Everyone at Caribou is a valued team member. Our compensation and benefits package includes:

  • Competitive cash compensation: $104k - $130k
