The Alabama Public Service Commission is seeking a Full-Time personal assistant to support the Commissioner. The Mississippi Public Service Commission supervises and regulates certain communication companies, electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities. It is the Commission's responsibility to see that rates and charges for services are just and reasonable, that approved rates are adhered to, that utility service is reasonably adequate, and that facilities constructed or acquired by utilities are required to serve the public. This position provides comprehensive personal assistance and support to the Commissioner. The role requires a high level of discretion, adaptability, and the ability to handle a wide range of tasks efficiently and professionally. Examples of tasks include, but are not limited to: • Process and respond to correspondence/inquiries from constituents, the media, and others. • Research issues and prepare briefing materials. • Facilitate communication with key people or groups. • Accompany Commissioner to meetings and conferences. • Serve as a liaison between the Commissioner and other District Offices. • Work with Chief of Staff and Administrative Assistant to maintain the Commissioner’s calendar. • Arrange meetings/events as necessary. • Draft press releases, newsletters, website copy, and social media posts. • Represent and/or speak on behalf of the Commissioner at public events. • Provide logistical support for daily tasks.
• Interest in government/regulatory work. • Ability to travel regularly, both in-state and out-of-state. • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism. • Strong adaptability to changing priorities, schedules, and environments, with the ability to remain composed under pressure. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as the role involves interactions with a diverse range of individuals. • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to efficiently manage various tasks and responsibilities.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 -4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably with a focus on political science, public policy, or communication
