Job Description

The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University’s goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development, and information dissemination. The CtLC Nexus, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, supports the “intersect of Charting the LifeCourse ideas, collaboration, and transformation.” As implied by “nexus,” it is the central hub connecting groups, ideas, and resources. The CtLC Nexus provides infrastructure for stakeholders to engage with a growing network, learn from each other, share stories, and build capacity. It also partners with organizations to enhance and innovate resources, training, and practices, and disseminates these through access to resources, training, and technical assistance.

The IHD seeks an experienced leader for a Program Area Specialist III role. This collaborative position contributes to the development and expansion of the Charting the LifeCourse Nexus training, technical assistance, and knowledge translation efforts. The role involves supporting projects related to systems, organizational, and practice-level changes across education, aging, disability, and social services sectors.

The LifeCourse Program Area Specialist III Will
  • Assist the program team in activities supporting training and technical assistance projects.
  • Provide training to individuals, families, professionals, and organizations on person-centered LifeCourse frameworks and tools.
  • Develop and maintain training resources and tools for diverse audiences.
  • Organize and support meetings to meet project goals.
  • Assist with data collection and reporting for evaluation and research activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program outcomes.
Reporting Structure

The Program Area Specialist III reports to a Sr. Project Coordinator. The position is based on the UMKC campus, with some travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in social work, human/social services, healthcare management, or public administration.
  • Experience partnering with professionals, families, and communities.
  • Self-driven with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience developing training materials and resources.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Flexibility to work hours and travel as needed.
Additional Details

Starting salary is approximately $51,875 annually, commensurate with experience. The position is eligible for university benefits, including health plans, retirement, paid leave, and educational discounts. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until filled.
