Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System in Fort Worth is seeking a Program Specialist II to provide direct care for psychiatric patients from pre-K through adolescence. You will assist with activities of daily living, help maintain a safe environment, and support the management of harmful behaviors in a pediatric setting.

You will participate in crisis intervention, teach group sessions, and contribute to treatment planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, child development, social work or related field.
• Experience in inpatient or partial hospital/residential child or adolescent services preferred.
• Pediatric growth and development education required.
• BLS certification due within 60 days of start date; CPI training as noted.

Summary:

The Program Specialist II assumes the primary caretaker role for psychiatric patients ages pre-K through adolescents, which includes activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment, and the management of harmful behaviors. The Program Specialist II also participates in crisis intervention, teaching, group process and will be on call as needed.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required preferably in psychology, child development, social work or related field. Minimum requirements changed March 2022. Prior employees grandfathered in with at least 2 years of previous inpatient/partial hospital/residential child or adolescent services for each year of college.
• Experience in inpatient or partial hospital psychiatric treatment preferred.
• Child growth and development education required.
• Pediatric experience preferred

Certification/Licensure:

• BLS or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
• CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Units 1-7 & 9-10 plus the CPI Childrens Control Position from Unit 8 or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
