Job summary

Chicago Housing Authority seeks a Program Specialist, Digital Inclusion to bridge the digital divide for CHA residents and support the Digital Resources Center (DRC).

You will deliver digital inclusion services, run training sessions, manage communications, and coordinate with CHA partners. Hybrid work is available; occasional travel to CHA properties is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with up to two years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to teach basic computer functions to all age groups.
  • Valid driver’s license and travel to CHA properties.

Job description

The Program Specialist, Digital Inclusion provides support to bridge the digital divide for CHA's residents and supports CHA's Digital Resources Center (i.e., computer labs).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers CHA’s digital inclusion services to CHA residents by increasing awareness of affordable internet services, distributing devices, and facilitating digital skills training; develops programming and activities to increase technology literacy for residents.
  • Helps develop and facilitates use of satisfaction surveys and evaluation tools to measure program effectiveness in collaboration with Digital Inclusion team. Plans and promotes a professional development program for Digital Resource Center (DRC) Associates to provide quality service to residents. Conducts one‑on‑one training sessions and workshops for residents as necessary.
  • Develops and manages communications plan for division initiatives to drive engagement and participation.
  • Manages and implements an annual Digital Inclusion program calendar to help drive resident engagement with departmental activities.
  • Attends meetings as directed on behalf of Manager.
  • Presents on topics related to CHA’s Digital Inclusion programming and resources to various stakeholders.
  • As needed, assist the DRC Associates and contracted agencies in gathering and reviewing monthly reports and other data points relevant to DRC activities. Maintains departmental SharePoint site for internal resource sharing; maintains departmental records for various resource programs.
  • Assists with scheduling, creating agenda items, and facilitating monthly meetings with DRC Managers and DRC Associates.
  • Refers participants to CHA’s Economic Power Programs, including but not limited to WORC, LevelUp, and Partners in Education.
  • Handles multiple projects simultaneously and responds to change in a positive manner.
  • May be asked to handle tasks outside of job description to meet broader goals of CHA and Resident Services.
  • This position requires working hours outside of CHA's established hours of 8:30a-5p, Monday-Friday.
  • This position has the option of working remotely up to one day per week following successful probationary period.
QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), with up to two (2) years of relevant work experience. The position requires strong knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Power Point and Excel) including the ability to compile and generate spreadsheets capturing key data related to DI initiatives, create and deliver interactive presentations and convert comprehensive information into written reports. Must be able to teach basic computer functions to all age groups. Requires travel to and work with external partners and residents in and around CHA’s properties; a valid Driver's License is required. Must possess strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills. Must have a positive attitude, the ability to adapt to change, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
