Job description

The position is located in the Business Operations Service (BOS) within the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). This position's primary focus will be on all scheduler training and performing scheduling audits for the Battle Creek VAMC.

To qualify for this position at the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
GS-7 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is providing administrative support assisting employees in achieving mandatory schedule training, creating specialized training agendas and/or orientation plans; and using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software to develop training tools and materials. NOTE: This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

GS-7 EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:

Possess at least one (1) full year of graduate education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).

GS-7 COMBINATION:

Possess an equivalent combination of successfully completed graduate level of education and experience as described above to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels. To be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).

GS-7 SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT:

Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the baccalaureate level in the qualifying curriculum detailed above is fully qualifying. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. To qualify for SAA, applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled and meet one of the following. TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED - If you do not submit your transcript (official or unofficial), your application may not be reviewed.

  1. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university or major subdivision.
  2. A grade-point average of "B" (a GPA of 95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.
  3. A grade point average of "B+" (a GPA of 45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study.

To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:
GS-9 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Specialized experience is providing administrative support assisting employees in achieving mandatory schedule training, creating specialized training agendas and/or orientation plans; and using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software to develop training tools and materials; conducting and administering training programs, developing and improving training guidance, and conducting classes or other group setting instruction; compiling data and developing reports. NOTE: This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

GS-9 EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:

Possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).

GS-9 COMBINATION:

Possess a combination of successfully completed graduate level of education and experience to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels. To be computed by first determining the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grade GS-9. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office environment. Occasional travel may be required. Since the Battle Creek VA Medical Center is an integrated, multi-divisional facility which is geographically disbursed, it may be necessary for the incumbent to physically work, on occasion, at the various Battle Creek locations such as one of the Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC's). The incumbent will also be required to travel, sometimes overnight between the facilities when necessary. The purpose of the travel is to attend staff meetings and/or facilitate training on scheduled training dates.
