Job summary

iWRITE is seeking a Program & Outreach Manager to lead youth literacy programs, community outreach, and school partnerships from our Houston area offices and partner sites. You will manage logistics, coordinate events, and communicate program impact to educators, families, and supporters.

The role emphasizes collaboration with educators, volunteers, and organizational leaders, requiring strong project management, communication, and the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of nonprofit program management, education, community outreach, or related experience.
  • Experience developing partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong speaking and presentation skills necessary.
  • Experience supervising volunteers or interns preferred.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for programs and special events.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee youth literacy programs and initiatives.
  • Present the program to schools and partners.
  • Manage program logistics, calendars, materials, and participant communications.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with schools, libraries, nonprofits, and community organizations.
  • Represent iWRITE at meetings, conferences, community events, and outreach/tabling opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand programming throughout the Greater Houston area.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with participating schools and educators.
  • Coordinate scheduling and communication for school-based programs.
  • Support recruitment of new school partners.
  • Assist with the annual literacy festival, summer camps, workshops, author visits, and community events.
  • Coordinate logistics, supplies, registrations, and onsite operations.
  • Work closely with the Executive team to support organizational goals.
  • Provide program information, stories, and impact data for grants, reports, donor stewardship, newsletters, and marketing materials.

Position Summary

The Program & Outreach Manager provides leadership for iWRITE's educational programs, community outreach, school partnerships, volunteer engagement, and program operations. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating youth literacy programs while cultivating relationships with schools, community organizations, and strategic partners that expand iWRITE's mission and impact.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, highly organized nonprofit professional who enjoys working with educators, families, volunteers, and community leaders while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
