Job summary

The Kresge Foundation seeks a Program Officer for the American Cities Program based in Detroit to advance place-based development and equitable urban revitalization. You will shape grantmaking strategies, manage a subset of the portfolio, and coordinate with partners across sectors to drive transformative outcomes.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead collaborative efforts across programs, oversee evaluative processes, and represent the foundation in public forums, with a focus on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; Master’s preferred.
• Five years of progressive work experience; policy/program issues experience valued.
• Strong communication, writing and verbal skills, including public speaking.
• Demonstrated ability to interact across teams and sectors.
• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to program strategy development and objectives.
• Manage and evaluate a portion of grants in national and place-based work.
• Represent the foundation publicly and collaborate with partners.
• Oversee convening, research, and knowledge exchange related to equitable development.
• Develop criteria to evaluate program outcomes and portfolio impact.
