Job summary

The Andrew Carnegie Foundation is seeking a Program Officer to grow the National Program by identifying funding opportunities in democracy and elections.

The ideal candidate will be well versed in research and possess extensive knowledge of the field to contribute to the program’s strategy, identify promising potential grantees and partnerships, and manage a portfolio of grants and other projects under the direction of the Program Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in political science, public policy, or related field.
• Strong grounding in democracy and elections research, policy developments, and reform efforts.
• Exceptional writing: precise, persuasive, board- and public-ready.

Responsibilities

• Advance National Program's goals focusing on structural reforms in American elections.
• Stay current on trends and research in elections and democracy and connect to the program’s strategy.
• Identify prospective grantees and assess proposals and budgets.
• Review and strengthen proposals and monitor progress of grants.
• Represent the portfolio externally and participate in meetings and field activities.
