Job summary

The Helmsley Charitable Trust is seeking a Program Officer for the Vulnerable Children in Sub-Saharan Africa Program to manage a multi‑million dollar portfolio and drive health and resilient livelihoods in four focus countries. The PO will work closely with the Program Director to identify high‑impact opportunities and support grantees through the grant lifecycle.

Responsibilities include grant and relationship management, program development, monitoring, and external engagement.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in international development, global health, medicine, or related field.
• 8–10 years of grant management experience in NGOs or philanthropic settings.
• Experience in global health, MNCH, NTDs, health systems strengthening; Sub-Saharan Africa experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Sub-Saharan Africa grantmaking and addressing grantee challenges.
• Strong budgeting and financial monitoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact and relationship manager with grantees.
• Manage grants through lifecycle: due diligence, reporting, implementation and evaluation.
• Identify new projects and potential grantees; prepare grant recommendations for Trustees.
• Represent Helmsley at external meetings and engage with partners.
• Collaborate across programs and departments to amplify grantees and strategy.
