Job summary

Borealis Philanthropy is seeking a Program Officer for its Criminal Justice Reform Initiatives to lead grantmaking programs across the Spark Justice Fund and related efforts. The role focuses on end-to-end design, evaluation, and support for grantees working on cash bail, pretrial justice, and policing reform.

The position requires deep knowledge of criminal justice reform, strong program management, and the ability to coordinate with donors and community leaders from across the country.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years working in the nonprofit sector or philanthropy.
• Significant knowledge of police and bail reform and criminal justice reform work.
• Demonstrated project management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse groups.
• Experience with diverse communities and ability to work in a team.
• Strong planning and organizational skills; able to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement CJRI grantmaking programs and RFP processes.
• Review proposals, conduct site visits, and prepare summaries for donor dossiers.
• Develop grantee technical assistance and capacity-building activities.
• Lead donor meetings and manage ongoing donor relations.
• Oversee staff such as the CJRI Program Associate and provide feedback.
