Job summary

Friends of the Children Detroit is seeking a Program Manager to supervise and support the Friends within the chapter. You will mentor staff, oversee onboarding, and help implement the organization’s mission with strong communication and accountability.

The role emphasizes relationship-building with youth, families, and school partners, ongoing program development, and leadership of team efforts to sustain trusted, high-impact services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, plus five years of experience working/volunteering with children.
  • At least two and a half years in the role of a Mentor or similar supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, guide and support Friends within the organization; act as a mentor and role model.
  • Support hiring, onboarding and supervision of New Friends on the team.
  • Articulate the organization’s mission, values and principles to staff and participants.
  • Develop and sustain honest, trusting relationships with colleagues and families.
  • Contribute to program planning, roadmaps and transition plans for youth.
  • Facilitate effective communications and resolve issues in a timely manner.
