Requirements
- Master’s degree in a technical area with 16 years broad experience in engineering, operations, marketing, strategic and business planning, or MBA with a technical undergraduate degree with 16 years' experience as described above, or a Technical BS with 20 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of waste management, including regulatory applicability, characterization, treatment, storage, and disposal.
- Knowledge of developing and establishing waste programs for all waste types.
- Extensive knowledge of TRU waste is required for this position.
- Familiarity with waste handling and waste acceptance at WIPP.
Preferred
- Knowledge of waste handling practices and programs across the complex.
- Ability to support design development and program development.
Responsibilities
- Manage programs for uncovering, assessing, developing, and exploiting new missions and technology at SRS to support Transition and Reconfiguration efforts.
- Facilitate the start-up of new businesses and establish new programs at SRS.
- Oversee the process of evaluating, recommending, and implementing new products, business, and technology initiatives, including facilities, personnel, and other SRS initiatives.
- Promote these initiatives within SRS, the DOE complex, the commercial and university sectors, and internationally.
- Provide implementation and start-up support for these programs.
- Guide additional technical support needs.
- Manage these program initiatives for up to one or more years.
- Provide legal and financial analysis support.
- Develop and manage budgets and documentation to justify funding and oversee implementation.
- Develop and manage the Program Development aspects of the Technology Programs Section.
- Promote and implement new SRS-based Centers of Excellence, Technical Institutes, cooperative R&D agreements, and other partnerships to enhance DOE mission objectives.
- Market SRS technical capabilities and diversification efforts.
- Analyze activities and identify new opportunities for initiatives.
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required, but candidates with recent active clearance are preferred.
