Roles and Responsibilities
The Program Manager teaches the principles and practices of recovery, self‑help in leading by example while supervising departmental staff in day‑to‑day activities.
- Supervise departmental staff members weekly in a staff meeting, evaluate/train onboarding new staff.
- Oversee staff daily, provide weekly individual one‑on‑one meetings.
- Approve time‑off requests, office supply orders and reschedule activities pertinent to work/client relations.
- Ensure all departmental staff members submit a timesheet monthly and receive their paychecks.
- Attend South Beach Psychiatric Center staff training, meetings, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC)/Pre‑RAC, AWARDs, and Staten Island Mental Health Counsel meetings.
- Troubleshoot any Human Resources Administration (HRA), provider relations, AWARDS, PEAT Login or other software issues.
- Generate Health and Community Base Service (HCBS) referrals for clients, attend site visits, audits and departmental meetings as needed.
- Perform various tasks assigned by the supervisor or corporate headquarters that are necessary to meet service contracts.
- Report Levels of Service to Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and quarterly demographic report.
- Ensure staff maintain/ work towards Peer Certification(s) and other training as directed.
- Generate incident reports when staff is not complying with company standards.
- Maintain fire drill log, staff scheduling, staff medical documentation.
- Comply with all guidelines to protect confidential client documentation, maintain DOHMH correspondence.
- Review client and audit charts for efficiency and ensure filing standards are maintained.
- Maintain fire drill log, staff scheduling and coverage when staff members are absent.
- Distribute/maintain Metro Cards, postage stamps, policy/procedure development, petty cash and check requests as needed.
- Attend manager meetings twice a month and relay any relevant information to departmental staff members.
Qualifications
- High School diploma required.
- New York State Certified Peer Specialists certification (Active) or must be re‑certified within 5 months of hiring.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Experience working with individuals receiving behavioral health services.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and internet navigation.
- Knowledge of government entitlement programs and Support (IPS) supported employment model, with at least one year of human services experience and preferably one year experience managing staff.
- Knowledge of AWARDS/Foothold a plus.
- Bilingual a plus but not required.
- Driver’s license a plus but not required.
Additional Notes
- Other duties may be assigned by the agency or Division Director.
- Ability to conduct community outreach with other non‑profit agencies or advocacy groups in the community.
Vaccination Requirement
Selected candidates must submit proof of complete vaccination against COVID‑19 and having received a booster shot. If a candidate has a qualifying medical condition or religious exemption that contraindicates a COVID‑19 vaccination, an exemption form should be requested from Human Resources.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
