Qualifications

• 2+ years of program or project management experience in AI/ML, data platforms or large-scale systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive Foundation AI projects from kickoff through development to deployment and stabilization.
• Translate strategy into executable roadmaps with milestones, risks, dependencies, and success metrics.
• Develop project plans aligned with business goals for algorithm performance.
• Establish and maintain program governance with cadences, reporting, decision forums, and executive communication.
• Coordinate with FAI team, Data Science, Sensor Intelligence, WHOOP Labs, Data Engineering, Software, Firmware to align objectives.
• Facilitate timely and lasting decision-making among stakeholders.
• Plan compute infrastructure with availability, capacity forecasts, vendor quotes, and cross-vendor tradeoffs.
• Improve development processes to enable organized, predictable execution of projects.
• Identify and manage risks and mitigations to reduce impact.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication across WHOOP.

As a Program Manager at WHOOP, you will be a critical member of the team that develops the next generation of models that will power the features we can provide to members. This role sits at the intersection of machine learning, data science, sensor intelligence, platform engineering, and product, and is responsible for translating complex technical work into clear plans, dependencies, and outcomes to ensure projects are delivered on time, aligned to strategy, and built for scale.

Foundation AI capabilities are critical to our ability to innovate quickly and responsibly. This role ensures that the underlying systems powering our features are delivered thoughtfully, reliably, and in a way that unlocks impact across the entire organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive Foundation AI projects from kickoff through development to deployment and stabilization
• Support the VP of Foundation AI to translate strategy into executable roadmaps with clear milestones, risks, dependencies, and success metrics
• Develop project plans consistent with business goals and requirements for algorithm performance
• Establish and maintain program governance, including planning cadences, status reporting, decision forums, and executive communication
• Work with the FAI team, Data Science, Sensor Intelligence, WHOOP Labs, Data Engineering, Software, Firmware to ensure project objectives and priorities are aligned across departments
• Bring together key stakeholders to facilitate timely and lasting decision-making
• Partner with the extended team on compute infrastructure planning, focusing on availability constraints, capacity forecasting, vendor quotes/lead times, and tradeoffs across vendors.
• Partner with the broader RAD program management team to continuously improve the development process to enable execution of projects in an organized, methodical, and predictable manner.
• Identify and manage project risks and issues, ensuring mitigations are in place to reduce potential impacts.
• Facilitate cross-functional communication across WHOOP for awareness and understanding.
• Understanding of technical issues to facilitate resolution of project blockers is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2+ years of industry experience in program or project management, preferably involving AI/ML, data platforms or large-scale systems
• Experience working with AI or applied ML teams
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, sprint planning, backlog grooming processes
• Data-driven approach to strategic planning, comfortable reviewing metrics and identifying ways to measure program success
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts (e.g., model training, inference, data pipelines, evaluation, experimentation), hands-on coding experience is not required
• Clear, confident communicator who can bridge deeply technical teams and business stakeholders
• Proven ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across diverse teams
• Nice to Have:

  • Experience organizing projects using Jira or similar platforms

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$175,000 Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job‑related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.

• In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.

These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
