Job description

Role & responsibilities

The Program Manager runs a Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) program on tight control: one trusted source of truth in Azure DevOps (ADO), updated daily, with reporting that refreshes without manual exports. The role owns the plan, the sprint scope and the escalation path. It also owns ADO data accuracy, and holds each module lead to keeping their own work items current. Reports to the engagement director or client sponsor. Why this role exists Large multi-module programs lose control when delivery data is unreliable. This role exists to prevent the following: Work items without an owner, sprint or reliable size. Reports that change because the underlying query changed, not because the work did. Defects raised in chat or email and never logged, so QA and UAT status cannot be trusted. Items marked approved with no sign-off evidence, and retired statuses still in use. Workload concentrated on a few people with no rebalancing. Responsibilities Program governance Own the integrated plan, sprint scope, dependencies, risks and the escalation path to the client sponsor. Run the daily program call and the weekly steering update. Say no to scope that is not sized and approved. Balance load across module leads and builders using capacity in hours per sprint per person, not item counts. ADO ownership and data integrity Lock one standard ADO query as the program view. Never change it without telling the team. Define and enforce work item standards: assignee, iteration, effort, state and area path required before an item moves to Build. No retired statuses. Client Approved needs a sign-off link. Save a dated snapshot of the standard view every day, with a change log, so any movement can be traced to progress or to a scope change. Keep state, stage and status definitions consistent, and correct earlier reports when the data proves them wrong. Reporting automation Build and maintain ADO Analytics views and a Power BI report (or equivalent) that refreshes daily with no manual exports. Automate the exception reports: unassigned items, items idle for more than a set number of days, backward state moves, and QA/UAT items with no linked test or bug. Program Manager (D365 F&O) -

Job Description | Publish the daily comparison, a bridge of what moved the completion gap, burn-up against plan, and capacity per lead. Follow-up rigor with module leads Hold each module lead accountable for their own work items being current by a fixed daily cut off. Chase the same day, in writing, with the item IDs. Track every action from the daily call (owner, due date, evidence) in ADO or a shared log. Review open actions at the start of every call. Escalate repeat misses to the engagement director after two consecutive cycles. Report a data-quality score per lead weekly. QA, UAT and defects Ensure every defect is logged as a bug in ADO and linked to its work item. Agree entry and exit criteria for QA and UAT. Collect client sign-off evidence before any item is marked Client Approved. Stakeholders Be the single point of contact for the client on status, scope and risk. Prepare numbers that tie from the detail to the headline. Operating cadence When What Daily, before the call Automated refresh of the standard view. Exception report sent to module leads. Leads update their items by the agreed cut-off. Daily call Walk the exceptions and the action log. Confirm blockers, owners and dates. Daily, after the call Dated snapshot saved. Comparison and progress report published. Chase items still open. Weekly Steering update: burn-up, completion-gap bridge, capacity per lead, data quality score per lead, risks and decisions needed. Each sprint Sprint planning against capacity, review and retrospective. Reconcile ADO sprint contents with the plan.

Preferred candidate profile

Must have

8+ years in program or project management, including at least 2 full-cycle D365 F&O (or comparable ERP) implementations with teams of 15 or more. Strong, hands-on Azure DevOps: you have configured it, not only used it. This means: Writing and sharing WIQL queries, and building dashboards and delivery plans. Process customisation: states, required fields, rules and work item types. ADO Analytics views or OData feeds, and the REST API for bulk updates and snapshots. Power BI (or equivalent) built against ADO data, scheduled to refresh without manual exports. Agile delivery with capacity-based sprint planning and burn-up reporting. Program Manager (D365 F&O) - Job Description | Page 2 Demonstrated rigor in follow-up: same-day chasing, a written action log, escalation after repeat misses. Clear written communication. Reports tie from detail to headline.

Preferred

D365 F&O functional or technical background (Finance, Supply Chain, Project Management and Accounting, or statutory localisations). Scripting for automation (PowerShell or Python) and Power Automate. UAT governance, client sign-off evidence and defect management. Experience using AI coding and analysis tools in delivery. Experience working across multiple time zones with onshore and offshore teams.
