Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the Deputy Mayor for Operations and the capital project teams at the City’s critical infrastructure agencies.
  • Support strategic planning and project execution for large-scale infrastructure projects across the five boroughs.
  • Facilitate interagency coordination, set timelines and milestones, review capital improvement plans, and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Monitor best practices, latest trends, and make policy and operational recommendations for high-profile capital projects.
  • Support the implementation of infrastructure projects necessary to advance neighborhood planning initiatives.
  • Coordinate Deputy Mayor briefings, prep materials, and calendaring as appropriate and support DMO staff members as needed
  • Participate in internal and external meetings with or on behalf of the Deputy Mayor to ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Develop and facilitate systems and processes for City Hall coordination.
  • Coordinate across Deputy Mayor teams.

The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations is responsible for overseeing the City’s operations across all five boroughs. We ensure delivery of efficient and effective services, lead on capital project design and delivery, manage the City’s public realm, coordinate emergency response, and work to reduce inequality and improve public safety. The Deputy Mayor for Operations oversees a robust portfolio of City Agencies, including the Departments of Citywide Administration Services, Design & Construction, Environmental Protection, Parks and Recreation, Records, Sanitation, Technology & Innovation, Transportation, as well as the New York City Fire Department and NYC Emergency Management. The Deputy Mayor of Operations also oversees the Mayor’s Offices of Capital Project Delivery, Climate & Environmental Justice, Environmental Coordination, Data & Analytics, Contract Services, Nonprofit Services, and Operations. The Mayor’s Office of Capital Project Development within the Office of the Deputy Mayor of Operations.

The Problems You’ll Solve

The Program Manager, Buildings in the Mayor’s Office of Capital Project Development, will support the team responsible for capital project coordination and implementation across City Agencies.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Deputy Mayor for Operations and the capital project teams at the City’s critical infrastructure agencies such as the Departments of Design & Construction, Department of Parks and Recreation, Department of Citywide Administrative Services and others.

  • You have proven ability to follow through on complex projects from ideas to implementation.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling presentations for an array of audiences.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience working in capital project management and capital delivery for large-scale infrastructure projects.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
  • Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
  • Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
  • Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?

  • You can support the creation of new policies and programs that advance the Administration’s priorities. - You can advise senior leaders on the latest trends related to capital project costs and project timelines. - You have a significant track record of operational experience and executing tight deadlines. - You can present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language. - You are highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail. - You have extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. - You have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
