Job summary

Description

Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university programor department, including the supervision of staff employees,student workers, programs or processes.

  • Plans and develops procedures for administering a large orcomplex department or program.
  • Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budgetanalysis.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluatesperformance.
  • Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals,operations and procedure manuals, and other written material anddocumentation.
  • Creates and reviews reports of expenditures andactivities.
  • May administer grants and grant-related related communications,scholarships and other operations.
  • Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies andprocedures.
  • May serve as property custodian for the department.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Duties
  • Oversee and manage post-award activities across portfolios inline with institutional and sponsor requirements.
  • Provides direction and partners with UHCOP Office of Researchand CBO to streamline workflows, ensuring alignment withinstitutional and sponsor policies
  • Provides budget projections as needed to support PI decisionmaking and avoid under-or-over spending of grant funds
  • Handles administrative tasks related to research budgets andaccounts at the discretion of PIs or leadership, maintainingexpenditure records for review.
  • Aids in monitoring expenses, reviewing accounting entries andrecording complex transactions in accordance with guidelines.
  • Compile numerous research reports on a monthly, quarterly andyearly basis
  • Processes and verifies financial transactions upon facultyrequest or departmental need, checking fund availability andapplying institutional and sponsor requirements to easeadministrative responsibilities.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of boththeoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical orprofessional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than oneprofessional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normallyobtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree froma college or university or an equivalent in-depth specializedtraining program that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year ofdirectly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
