Job summary

Troy Design and Manufacturing is seeking a project liaison to manage manufacturing programs from quote to follow-up. You will develop customer relationships, integrate into vehicle teams, and roll out deliverables to prototype and production tooling shops.

The role requires the ability to review timelines and engineering data, lead kickoff meetings, and support engineering changes. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success.

  • Conducts review and/or composition of timeline, engineering data, deliverables prior to kick-off.
  • Conducts kick-off meetings and participates in Engineering Change activity to support program.
  • Updates scheduling following kick-off and upon receipt of engineering changes that impact timing of all programs.
  • Monitors tooling status and attends customer directed meetings as required.

Troy Design and Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. At TDM, we use 21st Century manufacturing processes such as 3D design and printing, laser cutting, and automation for prototype and low volume manufacturing of components of current and future Ford vehicles. At our Chicago modification center facility, we do state of the art vehicle modifications for multiple police interceptor platforms.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general direction of the Business Manager, works on all aspects of the project from receipt of approved quote thru follow up.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Customer contact for planning.
  • Develops customer relationships and works to integrate TDM into the vehicle team.
  • Effectively rolls out program deliverables and impact to prototype and or production tooling shops.
  • Conducts review and/or composition of timeline, engineering data, deliverables prior to kick-off.
  • Conducts kick-off meetings.
  • Participates in Engineering Change activity in support of program
  • Updates scheduling following kick-off and upon receipt of engineering changes that impact timing of all programs.
  • Analyzes prototype concern sheets and reviews potential production impact with Project Manager(s).
  • Conducts status meetings and assists manufacturing team in containment planning for internal/external publishing.
  • Is part of the 8-D cross functional team when required and works with lessons learned or debriefing.
  • Monitors and understands tooling status.
  • Attends customer directed meetings when required.
  • Participates in end item quality reviews and is the liaison to the vehicle assembly site attending AIMS issue meetings and in plant follow up.
  • Performs other duties and required or requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED:
  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience 2+ yrs. in a manufacturing process environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability
  • Cost estimating and budget planning knowledge
  • Ability to work with others
  • Flexible, positive attitude and leadership characteristics
PREFERRED:
  • Automotive related process experience
  • Resource planning experience
  • Previous skilled trade supervision a plus
