Job summary

Sterigenics U.S., LLC seeks an hands‑on Project Manager to lead capital projects across multiple technologies with primary EO focus. You will develop budgets, schedules, and scopes, prepare CAPEX requests, and drive stage‑gate delivery with safety, quality and regulatory compliance at the forefront.

The role requires strong communication, cross‑functional leadership, and the ability to manage complex projects in a regulated environment, including field and corporate office work.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or other relevant technical degree.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Experience in a process environment with hands‑on involvement.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical/electrical/controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with stakeholders across departments.
  • Familiar with MS Project, Primavera and Procore.
  • Competent, strong leader, but affable.
  • Ability to develop scope, schedule, budget, forecast and manage priorities.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry is a plus.
  • Ability to execute projects autonomously while following PM procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project budgets, schedules, scopes of work.
  • Submit Capital Expenditure requests for Senior Management approval.
  • Follow stage gate project delivery considering safety, quality, costs, schedule, performance.
  • Manage large projects >US $50M or a portfolio of smaller projects.
  • Oversee multiple teams across departments with leadership on priorities.
  • Manage other PMs and project engineers.
  • Develop and document installation/OQ test plans per FDA/ISO.
  • Track/forecast and communicate project status including KPIs.
  • Supervise contractors to ensure safety, quality and appearance.
  • Ensure conformance to NFPA, EPA, FDA and OSHA codes.
  • Develop user requirements and functional specifications.
  • Coordinate project purchases with stakeholders and procurement.
  • Ensure process safety per regulations and good design practices.
  • Review engineering drawings and calculations for capital projects.
  • Close out projects with as-built and change documentation.
  • Identify critical spare parts for facilities.
  • Assist with PM best practices and CAPA investigations.
  • Review major changes through Engineering Change Control.

Reporting to the Sr. Director CAPEX & Engineering PMO, this ‘hand on’ position supports 3-5 simultaneous Engineering capital projects at various stages of completion as either project leader or in support of an entire project team. The position will support all technologies employed at Sterigenics, but primary focus will be Ethylene Oxide.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop detailed project budgets, schedules, scopes of work. Create/submit Capital Expenditure requests for funding for Senior Management approval. Follow disciplined stage gate project delivery process that considers project safety, quality, costs, schedule, and performance requirements. Able to delivery larger projects >US $50M and/or a portfolio of smaller projects. Able to oversee multiple teams on multiple projects across multiple departments and provide leadership on priority setting. Manage other project managers and project engineers. Oversee, potentially develop, execute, and document installation and operation qualification protocols and test plans in accordance with FDA and ISO requirements. Track, forecast and routinely communicate all aspects of project status on a timely basis including performance KPI’s. Actively supervise contractors and tradesmen to ensure compliance with Sterigenics standards for safety, job performance, quality, cleanliness, and appearance. Be a role model for safety compliance and hold contractors to the same standard. Oversee the contracts with service providers such as engineering and construction contractors. Manage the contractors for efficient on-time and on-budget field installations. Ensure conformance to all regulatory and environmental codes, as well as corporate standards including but not limited to NFPA, EPA, FDA and OSHA. Develop or facilitate the development of user requirements and functional specifications. Facilitate project purchases coordinating with stakeholders and procurement. Ensure process design safety is followed in accordance with regulations and good design practices. Review engineering drawings & calculations related to capital projects including equipment. Ensure projects are closed out properly including “as built” documents, engineering change control and complete documentation. Identify and ensure supply of critical spare parts for the facility at the completion of each project. Assist with special projects including the development of project management best practices and processes. Identify and facilitate the correction of all unsafe work conditions or practices. The individual will provide support in troubleshooting and problem‑solving engineering related issues and provide support for CAPA (corrective & preventative actions) investigation. Review, document, and test major changes through Engineering Change Control procedures.

Experience and Skills Required
  • Knowledge Base Undergraduate degree in engineering or other relevant technical degree.

Qualifications

Travel (up to 50% of business days) to each project site to solicit operational input, develop project plans, direct contractors, supervise installation, and provide “hands‑on” start‑up and commissioning support.

Pay & Benefits

Pay: $105,500–$182,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.
