Job summary

Volunteers of America of Massachusetts is seeking a Program Manager for our Hello House For Women program in Dorchester/Boston. This on-site, full-time role will oversee daily services, supervise Recovery Support Specialists, and ensure a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach for women in recovery from substance use disorders.

You will collaborate with program leadership to manage intake, client needs, and staffing while promoting evidence-based practices and empowering staff to build life

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with at least two years of substance abuse disorder experience or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of multifaceted experience treating individuals coping with substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorders.
  • Minimum of two years of management experience, preferably in a residential treatment or behavioral health setting.
  • Ability to train and provide services through diverse treatment modalities (e.g., Harm reduction, MAT, Trauma Informed Care).
  • Computer proficiency in electronic health records and MS Word and Outlook is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Recovery Support Specialists and ensure shifts are covered through scheduling.
  • Maintain a professional and hospitable program atmosphere to encourage client participation in treatment.
  • Coordinate with the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor on intake processes and census.
  • Provide support and participate in therapeutic milieu and groups as needed.
  • Oversee administrative functions including revenue, costs, and program supplies.
  • Maintain safe work environment; conduct fire drills and incident reports and escalate issues as needed.
  • Record and submit accurate daily/monthly program census.
  • Identify staff training needs with Clinical Supervisor and support EHR documentation and audits of client files.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Hello House For Women is a great opportunity for candidates who are passionate about working with individuals on their path to recovery. The expanded, 28-bed space in Dorchester offers trauma-informed and integrated clinical support services for women living with substance abuse disorders.

As Program Manager, you’ll have a dynamic and critical role overseeing the day to day program services to promote sensitive and therapeutic treatment for women in recovery of substance use disorders. As Program Manager you will lead an incredible team of Recovery Support Specialists by managing the daily scheduling and training staff on policies and procedures. The Program Manager will collaborate with residents to identify their unique needs, goals, and challenges, and work with the leadership staff to ensure that each individual in the program receives personalized support throughout their recovery journey. By implementing evidence-based practices and recovery-oriented approaches, the Program Manager will empower direct care staff as they work with clients to develop life skills, establish healthy coping mechanisms, and build a supportive community.

Program Manager Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, guide and oversee Recovery Support Specialists employees and ensure all shifts are covered through thoughtful management of employee schedules.
  • Ensure a professional and hospitable program atmosphere to encourage client participation in treatment.
  • Work with Program Director and Clinical Supervisor to manage the intake process toward a full census and that clients are appropriate for the program level of care.
  • Provide support and participate in therapeutic milieu, including groups as needed.
  • Oversee core administrative functions of the program including collecting revenue, recording monthly costs, and ordering program supplies and food shopping.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for clients and staff. Conduct documented fire drills, incident reports and any elevate any issues or concerns to the Program Director and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Record, maintain and submit accurate daily/monthly program census.
  • Work with Clinical Supervisor to identify needed areas of training for staff.
  • Review program EHR documentation and provide support and training where needed. Complete required clinical documentation and audits of client files.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.
