Job summary

EGI Battery is seeking a Program Manager in Ann Arbor, MI to lead the execution of customer, product-development, and internal programs across the company. This role owns day-to-day program management from opportunity through production release and post-launch support.

Position Summary

EGI Battery is seeking a Program Manager to lead the execution of customer, product-development, and internal programs across the company. This role owns day-to-day program management for assigned programs, including custom cell development programs, connecting customer commitments to clear requirements, integrated schedules, resource plans, budgets, risk management, and on-time delivery.

The Program Manager will work closely with functional teams across Commercial, Product, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Compliance to keep programs moving from opportunity through development, validation, industrialization, launch, and post-launch support. The role also manages EGI’s internal projects, process, equipment, facility, and systems improvements that support manufacturing growth.

This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys owning the details of complex technical programs, driving accountability across functions, and improving how programs are planned and run during a period of rapid company and manufacturing growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead assigned programs end to end: Own scope, requirements, deliverables, schedule, budget, and cross-functional execution for assigned customer and product-development programs from opportunity through production release and post-launch support.
• Manage custom cell programs: Drive custom cell development programs from customer requirement definition and technical concept through design, prototype build, sample delivery, validation and qualification testing, pricing and tooling inputs, and production release.
• Manage internal projects: Plan and execute EGI’s internal projects process improvements, equipment installation and qualification, facility build-out, quality and compliance initiatives, and business systems work with clear owners, timing, and success criteria.
• Build and maintain integrated schedules: Develop and maintain integrated program schedules with defined milestones, dependencies, critical path, and resource needs; keep them current and trusted as the source of truth.
• Drive cross‑functional execution: Translate customer and business commitments into specific functional deliverables, owners, dependencies, and completion criteria, and hold teams accountable to them.
• Manage risk, issues, and change: Identify risks early, maintain risk and issue logs with mitigation and contingency plans, elevate decisions promptly, and control changes to requirements, timing, cost, and technical scope.
• Run program reviews and reporting: Prepare and lead regular program reviews and gate reviews, and provide clear, concise status reporting on scope, schedule, cost, technical readiness, risks, decisions, and open actions.
• Apply lifecycle and stage‑gate discipline: Execute programs against EGI’s program lifecycle and stage‑gate requirements, ensuring entry and exit criteria, deliverables, and approvals are met at each gate.
• Own customer program communication: Serve as the primary program point of contact for assigned customers, managing communication plans, deliverable timing, sample and validation plans, change notifications, and escalation paths.
• Track program cost and resources: Partner with Finance and functional leaders to track program budgets, capital spend, labor and material costs, supplier commitments, and resource loading against plan.
• Strengthen program management practices: Contribute templates, tools, and standards for charters, schedules, action and decision logs, risk registers, change control, and lessons learned, and help improve how programs are run company‑wide.
• Measure program performance: Track and report program KPIs, including milestone adherence, gate readiness, risk closure, change performance, budget performance, launch readiness, and post‑launch outcomes.

Within 3 Months You Will

• Learn EGI’s cell platforms, products, manufacturing processes, customers, and active program portfolio.
• Take full ownership of assigned customer, custom cell, and internal projects, including scope, deliverables, owners, and timing.
• Build or rebuild integrated schedules for your programs with clear milestones, dependencies, critical path, and resource needs.
• Establish a consistent status reporting and program review cadence for your programs.
• Identify the top risks and open decisions across your programs and drive them to closure with the responsible teams.

Within 6 Months You Will

• Run assigned custom cell development programs through gate reviews with clear entry and exit criteria, deliverables, and decision ownership.
• Manage a prioritized view of EGI’s internal projects, with owners, timing, resource needs, and visible progress against plan.
• Operate consistent risk, issue, action, decision, and change‑control logs across your programs, with defined escalation thresholds.
• Use EGI’s program management templates and tools consistently to improve data quality and reduce duplicate reporting.
• Deliver customer commitments on time, including samples, validation data, documentation, and change notifications.
• Contribute reusable templates, checklists, and standards that other program owners across the company can adopt.

Within 12 Months You Will

• Deliver assigned customer, custom cell, and internal programs on schedule and on budget, with predictable milestones and early risk identification.
• Be established as the trusted program point of contact for your customers and the internal teams supporting them.
• Demonstrate measurable improvement in internal project completion rates, cycle time, and follow‑through on committed actions.
• Run post‑gate and post‑launch reviews so lessons learned are incorporated into future products, processes, estimates, and program plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of program or project management experience, including cross‑functional programs in a technical or advanced‑manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing product‑development or custom‑engineered programs from customer requirements through validation and production release.
• Experience in lithium‑ion batteries, automotive, aerospace, defense, energy storage, electronics, or another highly technical advanced‑manufacturing environment.
• Working understanding of product development, customer qualification, validation, supplier management, manufacturing industrialization, capital‑equipment implementation, and production launch.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage integrated schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk registers, change controls, gate reviews, and program reporting.
• Working knowledge of modern project management tools; experience with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, ERP, PLM, MES, or similar business systems is preferred.
• Solid business and financial acumen, including experience connecting program decisions to cost, timing, capital spend, and resource capacity.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to drive accountability without direct authority.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent programs and move between detailed execution and big‑picture priorities in a fast‑growing organization.
• PMP or comparable project or program management certification is preferred but not required.
