Job summary

Bloomington Public Schools is seeking a Program Management Support Paraprofessional - Long-Call Reserve (LCR) at Jefferson High School to support students in the DCD STRIVE program. As a paraprofessional, you will provide behavioral and academic support, assist with daily living activities, and collaborate with licensed staff to implement individual education plans for students with developmental cognitive disabilities.

Start date is ASAP with an end date of Oct 23, 2027 (may extend).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 60 credits post-secondary education or Para Pro Exam.
• PCA Certification or ability to obtain.
• Experience with special education students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students academically as directed.
• Monitor progress and support independence and behavior plans.
• Assist with daily living activities.
• Communicate student progress with case managers.

Position Title:

STRIVE Program - serving students with DCD needs

Paraprofessionals in the DCD ProgramParas play an important role in providing behavioral and academic support to students and are often the first go-to person for students during the day. This video will show you what a day in the Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) program might look like. DCD settings include the STRIVE program for grades K-12 and the THRIVE program for grades 3-12.

Salary:
Class III ranging from $23.06 - $27.15 per hour
*Wage placement based on similar experience
Hours:
6.2 hours per day
5 days per week
180 days per year
Required Education:

• High School Diploma
• 60 credits post-secondary education or a passing score on the Para Pro Exam
• PCA Certification (or the ability to obtain)

Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to pass a pre-work physical exam including the following requirements:

• Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must have ability to push/pull equipment including standers, wheelchairs, etc
• Must have ability to repetitively reach overhead
• Must have ability to transfer to/from floor
• Must have ability to kneel

Required Experience:
Successful experiences working with speical education students in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with licensed and other staff to assist students with academic, behavioral/social/emotional, instruction, and daily living skills.

• Assist in implementation of assigned tasks including instruction and assisting students academically
• Monitor student's skills of independence and implementation of classroom of individual behavior management programs
• Assist with daily living activities
• Communicate student's progress with case managers
