Job summary

Bloomington Public Schools is seeking a Program Management Support Paraprofessional for Olson Middle School to assist students receiving special education services. Position involves supporting academic and social skill development with a SPED focus.

The role requires a High School Diploma, 60 college credits or Para Pro, and PCA certification (or the ability to obtain). Work hours are 6.2 per day, school days, at Olson Middle School in Bloomington, MN.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist students with academic, behavioral/social/emotional, instruction, and daily living skills.
  • Support implementation of instructional tasks and classroom activities.
  • Monitor and report student progress to case managers.

Multi-categorical paraprofessionals provide academic and social skills support for students receiving special education services. Please see this video for a short description of the role.

Salary:

Class III ranging from $23.06 - $27.15 per hour
*Wage placement based on similar experience

Hours:

6.2 hours per day, 7:55 am to 2:37 pm
5 days per week
180 days per year

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma
  • 60 credits post-secondary education or a passing score on the Para Pro Exam
  • PCA Certification (or the ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements:

Must have the ability to pass a pre-work physical exam including the following requirements:

  • Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must have ability to push/pull equipment including standers, wheelchairs, etc
  • Must have ability to repetitively reach overhead
  • Must have ability to transfer to/from floor
  • Must have ability to kneel
Required Experience:

Successful experiences working with speical education students in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with licensed and other staff to assist students with academic, behavioral/social/emotional, instruction, and daily living skills.

  • Assist in implementation of assigned tasks including instruction and assisting students academically
  • Monitor student's skills of independence and implementation of classroom of individual behavior management programs
  • Assist with daily living activities
  • Communicate student's progress with case managers
