AMERICAN VANGUARD is seeking a PMO Manager (Program Management Office) tolead a portfolio of strategic projects at the Irvine, CA corporate office. The role focuses on program governance, risk management and executive reporting to enable value realization across Business Units.

You will oversee interdependencies, budget tracking, and standardization of PMO processes, partnering with Finance and HR to drive change management and adoption across global teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of work experience in complex program management with risk mitigation and governance.
• Skilled in using project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project).
• Strong background in understanding financial reporting, EBITIDA, gross margins and profit margins.

Responsibilities

The PMO Managerwill support the company’s Business Improvement Initiatives by managing and driving a portfolio of multiple strategic projects designed to deliver financial and operational value. This is a hands-on role that will focus on program management, risk identification and escalation and report on the progress, value and benefits across the organization. The role will require mastery of best-in-class PMO methodologies, overseeing the use of the appropriate methods and tools for program governance across the portfolio.

The PMO must demonstrate deep expertise in interdependency mapping, risk management and supervising complex programs to time and budget, with an ability to balance competing priorities. The role requires strong communication skills to consolidate information for executive meetings and the ability to adjust messaging from middle-level management up to executive leadership. This position is onsite at the corporate office in Irvine.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work across Business Units (BUs), functions, and workstreams to monitor KPIs, timing, dependencies, issues, and risks and to coordinate information sharing
• Aggregate end-to-end reporting on program progress across functions and workstreams for the Board and Business Units Leadership
• Deliver monthly dashboards and monthly KPIs for each stakeholder and coordinate running the monthly Global Leadership meeting
• Manage overall program budget tracking, forecast variances, and report financial performance against approved business cases
• Establish and continuously improve PMO standards, templates, and governance frameworks to support a scalable and consistent operating model
• Monitor program health to identify roadblocks to value realization, elevate risks to appropriate stakeholders and ideate solutions
• Coordinate closely with Finance to validate reporting, business cases and investment decisions
• Apply project management best practices and ensure program / project teams are using appropriate tools and PMO methodologies
• Coordinate program support across organizational boundaries including engaging support functions company-wide on a global basis
• Communicate efficiently and effectively to key senior stakeholders and executive team members
• Partner with HR and business leads to support change management activities, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and adoption tracking
• Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and third-party partners engaged in transformation initiatives
• Provide overall delivery and oversight for improvement initiatives

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of work experience in complex program management with demonstrated expertise in risk mitigation and governance while balancing competing priorities
• Skilled in using project management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, etc.)
• Strong background in understanding financial reporting, EBITIDA, gross margins, profit margins, - experience working in a publicly traded company meeting quarterly goals is a plus
• Ability to work independently and provide reporting and program management results across disparate stakeholder groups in a company with global offices and partnerships to track and deliver multiple, complex strategic initiatives
• Experience in change management principles and methodologies; Prosci or equivalent certification a plus
• Manufacturing, agriculture, chemical or life sciences industry experience preferred
• Polished communication skills and experience communicating with and presenting to senior management; external partners and all skill levels
• Highly organized with a proven ability to collaborate across functions to drive results
• Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent) to support executive-level dashboards and KPI reporting

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in a quantitative or business area
• PMP or equivalent project/program management certification
