Job summary

ProYouth Expanded Learning in Tulare, CA is seeking a Program Leader Sub to help manage a classroom and ensure student safety while delivering daily program activities including sports, STEM, coding, nutrition, outdoor education and arts. Hours are based on site needs and availability, with a minimum of 2 days per week and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM shifts.

The role is part-time and non-exempt, offering an hourly wage of $18.00.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 48 college units or NCLB Paraprofessional Certification.
• Two years' experience with youth is desirable.
• Pass DOJ/FBI background check.
• TB clearance and CA Driver License required.

Position Summary

A Program Leader Sub is responsible for managing a classroom , ensuring the safety of students and facilitating daily implementation of each program. Programs may include but are not limited to: sports, STEM, Coding, nutrition, outdoor education, and creative arts. Working hours are based on site need and employee's availability.

Work Schedule

• Days: Available a minimum of 2 days a week
• Hours: Be able to arrive to work by 2:00 PM, and work until 6:00 PM

Primary Role and Responsibilities

• Support student mastery of new skills through project-based learning
• Maintain a culture of safety and well-being with students in both the classroom and outdoor setting
• Establish clear, consistent expectations for behavior and positive discipline.
• Ensure that every student feels known, accepted, valued and respected.
• Build and maintain a high level of trust through effective communication methods.
• Model and promote the mission and values of ProYouth through appropriate appearance, words and actions.
• Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, playground, library, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school and ProYouth expectations and procedures regarding student behavior and participation and/or providing a safe, respectful and positive learning environment.
• Work in conjunction with the Site Director and all program staff to ensure that activities are exciting and relevant to youth as well as well-thought out and organized.
• Address issues, concerns, and challenges to immediate supervisor
• Build positive and professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, ProYouth executive and administrative staff, site principal, teachers and parents.
• Participation in professional development, staff meetings, site training and professional learning communities
• Participate as a positive team member for the purpose of enhancing and sharing knowledge and skills for the delivery of best practices.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned within the scope and range of knowledge base and training.

Education and Experience

General Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass a DOJ/FBI background check.
• Must receive TB clearance.
• Must possess a valid California Driver License
• Must have adequate auto insurance and be listed as a covered driver

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, perform grasping and handling motions, and torso rotations on a continuous basis to engage and guide children's classroom and playground activities.
• Able to lift and carry 20 pounds of materials
• Able to reach in all directions.
• Adequate sight or corrected vision for the purpose of reading directions and printed or written materials.
• Able to hear and speak to communicate with coworkers, students, and the public.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate instructional equipment.
• Work in a classroom and outdoor environment, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
