Job summary

American University’s Center for Latin American and Latino Studies seeks a Program Coordinator to provide administrative and project development support. You will manage the Center’s website, blog, and social media, plan events, draft proposals, and supervise student assistants.

The role reports to the Director and requires independence, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills. This is a one-year renewable position with a 35-hour work week, hybrid on-campus schedule, and an hourly

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Office management experience and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage Center’s communications strategy and content (brochures, blog, website).
• Coordinate events and related invitations; handle logistics and translations.
• Provide general research support and contract preparation for grants and projects.
• Supervise student assistants and support staff in daily operations.
• Handle budgets, payments, and office duties with minimal supervision.
