This position is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 500 - Provost & Enrollment Division. That means the terms and conditions of your employment are governed by university policy (including the Staff Personnel Policies Manual) and any collective bargaining agreement entered into between American University and SEIU Local 500 - Provost & Enrollment Division.
Program Coordinator is responsible for providing general administrative and specific project development support to the Center for Latin American & Latino Studies. Tasks include helping to maintain the Center’s website, blog and social media accounts; planning and coordinating events; drafting and editing correspondence; grant proposals, and website text; managing grants, facilitating the work of research teams; conducting background research; and responding to inquiries and concerns from faculty, outside organizations, funders, and the broader campus community. The Program Coordinator must be able to function independently with minimal supervision, have sound judgment, a professional demeanor, and be project/task oriented. This is a one-year renewable temporary position.
The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director for the Center for Latin American & Latino Studies. This position works closely and supports the Assistant Director, Finance and Operations when required, and other staff associated with the projects housed at the Center for Latin American & Latino Studies. This position helps to supervise and coordinate the workload of student assistants.
