As an on-site role, develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, management systems, and training to meet regulatory and internal standards in manufacturing and R&D.
Job Duties
Key focus areas include health and safety (e.g., emergency planning, incident investigation, ergonomics, machine safety, chemical safety, change control, etc.) and support for environmental compliance (e.g., hazardous waste, air quality, industrial wastewater, stormwater, etc.). Job duties:
- Program leadership: Collaborate with other EHS teams globally in the organization to develop standardized EHS programs, systems, and training.
- Risk management: Conduct risk assessments, new chemical reviews, and process and facilities changes.
- Compliance and audits: Lead EHS Gembas, compliance audits, and inspections.
- Incident investigation and reporting: Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and near misses to determine root causes. Develop and implement preventative measures. Maintain records of all EHS incidents and investigations.
- Key EHS responsibilities: Lead teams such as the emergency response team, safety committee, and lab safety teams.
- Data analysis: Oversee EHS data analysis, record keeping systems, and the management of EHS performance metrics and trend identification.
- Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk, improve programs, management systems, and training to enhance the culture of EHS innovation and excellence within the organization.
- Regulatory compliance: Review and analyze regulations by regulatory agencies to maintain compliance; serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Emerging trends: Track new and emerging EHS regulations, trends, and best practices. Communicate key updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Comply with applicable Laws and Regulations, adhere to Quality Management System processes and requirements as well as demonstrate Ethics and Integrity in all matters and at all levels throughout the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, or related field of study, or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with relevant experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience in Environmental, Health and Safety, including a minimum of three (3) years of manufacturing and/or plant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to work closely with Senior Leadership, Supervisors, and Production Associates.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal EHS regulations, EHS management systems, emergency action plans, incident management, and ergonomics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Ability to discern and appropriately communicate sensitive issues.
- Ability to adapt and work in a team environment.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and daily responsibilities.
