The Office of Environmental Design's (OED) Water Programs Division (WPD) is responsible for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Program for SHA. The WPD responsibilities include ensuring SHA is meeting its restoration compliance goals and working towards, achieving and or maintaining compliance with Maryland surface water quality standards (designated uses, water quality criteria, anti-degradation), MS4 discharge permit conditions, based on the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) to minimize pollutants entering Maryland waterways from SHA storm drain systems and restore impervious surfaces.
This is an advanced senior level position that functions as Program Lead in WPD and provides technical expertise, specialized services, and leads multi-disciplinary teams to support compliance with SHA's NPDES/MS4 permit. The position requires independent decision making to manage large complex environmental programs, such as the Restoration Implementation program, to ensure compliance with current permit conditions and plan for future permit compliance, all working towards mitigating environmental impacts from existing roads and transportation projects.
Licenses & Certifications: Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
