Job summary

Community Residences in Stratford, CT is seeking a direct care professional to support clients with developmental disabilities. You will foster a positive learning environment, implement care plans, monitor medical and behavioral changes, and assist with transportation and community activities.

Position requires ability to lift up to 75 lbs, valid CT driver’s license, and willingness to participate in training. Monday–Friday schedule with on-site responsibilities and travel within the community.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in the field of Human Services preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a related Human Services area in addition to experience is preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, positive learning environment and develop strategies to help clients cope with daily living.
• Lift and transfer up to 70–75 lbs; active work inside and outside the home.
• Administer medication when certified and per DDS standards.
• Plan and prepare meals within budget and ensure dietary plans are followed.
• Maintain appearance and safety of house, vehicles, and properties.
