Job summary

Youth Guidance in Chicago seeks a part-time program assistant to supervise before- and after-school students and support the Community Resource Coordinator with program delivery. You will help with homework, lead activities, promote the program's values, and communicate with parents in a school setting.

Must be reliable with strong communication and conflict-resolution skills; willingness to adapt to changing schedules and contribute to program improvement.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High school Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach with projects and timely follow-through.
  • Ability to understand CPS policies and school routines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of students in before and after school programs.
  • Promote the values of Youth Guidance and the assigned school.
  • Maintain behavioral expectations for students per procedures.
  • Collaborate on development and facilitation of programs and lesson plans.
  • Assist students with homework and projects.
  • Escort students to and from programs per schedule.
  • Distribute program information and publications to promote programs.
  • Support school day administration and staff; communicate with parents.
  • Provide conflict resolution with children, parents, families, and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary: To facilitate programming and direct supervision for before and after school students as well as assisting the Community Resource Coordinator in promoting programs and performing responsibilities as assigned.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Provide direct supervision of students enrolled in the before and after school programs and promote the values of Youth Guidance and your assigned school.Maintain behavioral expectations for students in keeping with established methods and procedures.Collaborate in the development of and facilitate before and after-school programs as implemented by the Community Resource Coordinator, including curriculum development and lesson planning.Assist students of varying ability with homework and projects.Escort students to and from programs, following the established after-school schedule.Assist in the distribution of program information and publications used to promote the programs and various enrichment programs as offered.Provide support to the regular school day administration and staff.Communicate information and provide support for parents.Provide conflict resolution with children, parents, families, and staff.Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Education/Experience/TrainingMust have minimum of High school Diploma or GED.
