Job summary

University of California, Berkeley's Summer Sessions, Study Abroad, Lifelong Learning & University Extension (SSALLEX) seeks a Program Director to implement and manage the Science, Mathematics, and Biotechnology programs. This role supervises a team of Program Coordinators, Specialists, and Student Advisors to ensure academic quality and student success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; continuing education valued.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience managing academic programs and assessing quality of programs.
• Experience in planning and managing events and portfolio of courses.
• Excellent written, verbal, cross-cultural communication for university representation.
• Asynchronous course development, redevelopment, and maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish evaluation criteria for measuring results and impact.
• Manage quality assurance and improvement for courses and programs.
• Lead meetings with advisory committees and instructors for continuous improvement.
• Oversee resolution of academic issues with instructors, students, and partners.
• Collaborate with department leadership to standardize processes across programs.
• Plan and develop programs and curriculum within accredited/public education settings.
• Coordinate with Admissions, Student Services, Marketing, and Career Services to support students.
• Develop, prepare, and reconcile budgets; provide regular reports to senior leadership.
• Evaluate curriculum based on student feedback and interest, adjust as needed.
• Manage the program team to ensure timely resolution of inquiries and concerns.
