Job summary

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is developing a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program and seeking an experienced Program Director to lead the ACGME application process and build a premier training environment on Florida’s West Coast.

The role begins as a consulting position during accreditation and transitions to a .5 FTE Program Director with remaining time dedicated to clinical Emergency Medicine practice, offering a comprehensive benefits package for the clinical portion.

Qualifications

  • Passion for resident education and scholarly activity.
  • Strong background in graduate medical education.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership in an ACGME-accredited program.
  • Board certification in ABEM or AOBEM is required.
  • 3+ years of educational/administrative experience in a residency program.
  • Prior Program Director or Associate Program Director experience is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design program structure, curriculum, and educational strategy.

Program Director - Emergency Medicine Residency Program
Lakewood Ranch Medical Center - Lakewood Ranch, FL

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center is excited to announce the development of a new Emergency Medicine Residency Program, scheduled to welcome its first class in July 2027. We are seeking an experienced and inspiring Program Director to lead the ACGME application process and build a premier training environment on Florida’s West Coast.

This is a unique opportunity to design and grow a high-quality academic program within a thriving, rapidly expanding community. The residency will be based at our 190-bed community hospital-recognized for excellence in CMS quality metrics, patient safety, and patient satisfaction.

We are seeking a collaborative clinician-educator with

  • A passion for resident education
  • A strong background in graduate medical education
  • At least three years of leadership experience within an ACGME-accredited program

The role will begin as a consulting position during the accreditation process and transition to a .5 FTE Program Director role upon program approval, with the remaining FTE dedicated to clinical Emergency Medicine practice.

Candidate Requirements
