Title: Program Director

Site Name: CS 300

Reports To: Vice President, Afterschool

Location: 2050 Prospect Avenue, Bronx, NY 10460

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 10am to 6pm

Salary: $65,000 - $72,000

Job Summary: The Program Director is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the afterschool program. They serve as the liaison to school staff and are responsible for carrying the culture and values of Good Shepherd Services.

Major Duties:

  1. Provide overall leadership and supervision for the after-school program including the summer camp.
  2. Oversee the coordination of enrichment activities and curricula.
  3. Ensure the implementation of parent engagement activities.
  4. Provide daily crisis intervention with participants regarding personal and/or in school issues that affect their behavior and attendance.
  5. Develop linkages within the school and the community.
  6. Liaise with the principal and designated staff of school to align the activities with the school day.
  7. Participate in appropriate school-based teams or committees.
  8. Create linkages and feedback to programs within the school for student support and/or educational achievement.
  9. Complete required narrative and statistical reports.
  10. Monitor program expenditures.
  11. Ensure the safety, security, and cleanliness of the site.
  12. Ensure program’s compliance with Department of Health, DYCD and COA accreditation requirements.
  13. Participate in weekly supervision.
  14. Attend all staff meetings and required professional development activities.
  15. Collaborate effectively with GSS Peer Programs and support departments (e.g., Development, Finance, Program Evaluation, Human Resources, IT and Training).
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required OR
  2. Annual PD waiver with 5 years of experience and enrolled in BA/BS program.
  3. 2 years of experience in an administrative supervisory capacity required.
  4. 2 years of direct childcare experience plus:
  • 18 credits in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or related field OR
  • NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential OR
  • SACC Credential Course.
  • Must have excellent organizational, budgeting, oral and written communication, and networking skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and DYCD Connect.
  • Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
