The University of Houston System is seeking a Dean for Pharmacy to lead a complex academic unit and its operations. You will oversee staff, budgets, and strategic initiatives, while guiding policy development and program implementation across the Dean’s Office.

Department: Dean, Pharmacy Salary: $75,100 - $85,450
Description

Responsible for the operations of a complex center or multiple departments at the university. Oversees staff and budgets, and projects.

  • 1. Administers a complex center or multiple departments.
  • 2. Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
  • 3. Hires and directs the activities of staff.
  • 4. Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
  • 5. Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
  • 6. Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
  • 7. Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
  • 8. Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
  • 9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Additional Posting Information
  • Coordinates, directs, and manages the daily operational workflow of the Dean’s Office.
  • Partners with the Dean and executive leadership to support strategic planning, academic self-studies, and institutional development initiatives.
  • Supports administration for faculty promotion and tenure (P&T) processes with the Executive Associate Dean, including confidential document uploading and electronic processing.
  • Oversees business office processing in the Dean’s Office including: expense reports, travel voucher reimbursements, student/vendor payments, and Foundation payment requests or deposits.
  • Oversees communication flow into and out of the Dean's Office, maintaining consistent messaging across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates some special programming including faculty meetings, Dean’s student advisory council, Dean’s graduate student advisory council, Dean’s Advisory Council and others, as directed by the Dean

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
